Jay Brockman
Jay Brockman is Associate Dean of Engineering for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement at the University of Notre Dame. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Previously, Dr. Brockman was a product engineer at Intel Corporation. He is the author of the textbook "Introduction to Engineering: Modeling and Problem Solving." His current educational interests focus on the development of student leadership through engagement in community-based engineering projects, as well as connections between STEM education and the arts (STEAM). Together with ensemble Third Coast Percussion and Wilco drummer and composer Glenn Kotche, Dr. Brockman has developed performance-based programs that highlight commonalities between the STEM fields and music with respect to experimentation, analysis, and design. He is also a co-founder of Emu Solutions, Inc., a startup that is commercializing research results in the area of high-performance computing.
