Naomi Chesler
Naomi C. Chesler is Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research accomplishments are in the areas of cardiovascular biomechanics and engineering education. Dr. Chesler’s biomechanics research seeks to improve cardiovascular health through the integration of mechanical engineering, vascular biology and imaging tools, to advance knowledge in these fields, and to educate the next generation of leaders in cardiovascular engineering and science. This work is well funded by the NIH. Dr. Chesler’s education publications promote mentoring and curricular change strategies for improving the recruitment and retention of women and underrepresented minorities in engineering. Her educational research uses such tools as a novel virtual internship to investigate how students learn engineering and become engineers, which is funded by the NSF. She is a Fulbright Scholar, an ASME fellow, and the 2014 recipient of the Biomedical Engineering Society Diversity award.
