Dr. Eric Davis R. is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Faculty Coordinator of Data-Driven Science at Iowa State University. Dr. Davis serves as the director of the Trustworthy Data Engineering Laboratory, is a member of Iowa State's NSA designated Center of Research Excellence on Information Assurance, and holds an appointment at Iowa State's Virtual Reality Applications Center where he contributes to research in the areas of data science, machine learning, and explainable AI. He has twice been named an Eric and Wendy Schmidt Data Science for Social Good Faculty Fellow at the University of Chicago; a Fronteirs of Engineering Education Faculty Member by the National Academy of Engineering; and an IBM Doctoral Fellow. Dr. Davis' research focuses on the critical intersection of Data Science, Data Engineering, Data Privacy, and Cybersecurity with a focus on dependable computing and storage for critical infrastructures. He has been PI or Co-PI on over $4 million in external research funding since 2013. Dr. Davis earned his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he worked on applications in fault-tolerance and security with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications for the first sustained Petascale supercomputer, Blue Waters.
