Biography
Dr. Alex Hills is Distinguished Service Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, where he developed “Wireless Andrew,” the first large-scale, high-speed wireless network. That network has served as the prototype for modern Wi-Fi networks across the nation and around the world. Dr. Hills has also empowered students and improved the lives of those in impoverished areas of the world by supervising student projects in Rwanda, Ghana, Palau, and many other developing nations. To recognize his achievements, the University of Alaska recently awarded him an honorary Doctor of Letters degree. He is a Fellow of the IEEE.
