Biography
René Overney, Professor in Chemical Engineering at the University of Washington since 1996, graduated with a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Basel (Switzerland) in 1992. He spent as postoc one year in Japan at the University of Yokohama, and two years at Exxon R&D in Annandale, NJ. Overney’s scholarly activities have concentrated on nanomaterials and interfacially confined aspects. His most notable contributions have been in polymer applications and lubrication. As an educator, he has been active as instructor in Chemical Engineering, and as developer of novel undergraduate and graduate programs related to nanotechnology and molecular-engineering.
