Biography
Christopher Swan is Associate Dean of Undergraduate Curriculum Development in the School of Engineering and an associate professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at Tufts University. He has additional Tufts appointments in the Department of Education, Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service, and Center for Engineering Education and Outreach. He has BSCE and MSCE degrees from the University of Texas – Austin and an ScD degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from MIT. He has been an active member of the American Society for Engineering Education since 1995, having served as an elected officer in the Environmental Engineering (2003-7) and Community Engagement (2011 – present) divisions. His current research interests focus on project-based learning and service-based pedagogies. He also researches the development of reuse strategies for waste materials and the impact of temperature (heating and/or freezing) on engineering properties of soils.
