Biography
Brianno Coller is Presidential Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Northern Illinois University. His formal training is in the areas of nonlinear dynamics and control, having studied turbulent boundary layers, aerodynamic/aeroelastic instabilities in jet engines, and stability and control of rear-steared bicycles. More recently, he has focused his studies on another type of complex system: how students learn and become engaged in learning engineering. He has developed a simulation/videogame called Spumone in which students learn concepts and exhibit authentic engineering problem solving skills in the game environment.
