Biography
Joseph M. Le Doux is an Associate Professor and the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from Rutgers University in 1998 and his M.Eng. and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University in 1987 and 1986, respectively. His early research efforts focused on how to use viruses to transfer genes to cells for the purposes of human gene therapy. More recently, he has shifted his research to the learning sciences, with a focus on understanding the role of generative drawing, diagrammatic reasoning, and estimation in engineering problem-solving.
