International Congress Confers Lifetime Achievement Award to Professor Somasundaran
Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science 905 Mudd Building 500 West 120th Street New York, NY 10027 Professor P. Somasundaran was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award today at an International Engineering congress Banquet in Quebec city in Canada. Somasundaran currently works at Columbia University as the La von Duddleson Krumb Professor, director of Langmuir Center for Colloids & Interfaces, and director of the National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center . His newest program is the Green Surfactant Initiative, which seeks to design greener surfactant systems for an environmentally conscious market. Author of 15 books and 700 scientific publications, Somasundaran is a 1985 inductee of the National Academy of Engineering and subsequently of the corresponding academies of China, India, Russia, Balkan region/MT and more recently to the Royal Academy of Sciences . Somasundaran has been honored with many awards, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor (1990), which was presented to him along with such recipients as then-President George Bush and four former Presidents.
